Kyou Mei Machi

The nightmare began with a single, inexplicable phenomenon: the eerie sound of feral insects. This unnatural noise carried a devastating contagion that targeted women, transforming those who heard it into violent, unhinged individuals known only as the "crazies." Once infected, these women became carriers of the auditory plague themselves, relentlessly spreading the affliction to other women while directing their murderous aggression exclusively toward men. As the infection swept through the country, Japan was plunged into absolute chaos. The relentless violence and rapid spread of the contagion decimated the nation, ultimately claiming the lives of seventy percent of its population. Cities fell silent, replaced by the terrifying hum that heralded further destruction. Faced with an unprecedented biological catastrophe and the complete collapse of Japanese society, the international community took drastic measures to prevent the phenomenon from crossing borders. Japan was entirely severed from the rest of the world, left in total isolation to face the horrors born from that first, maddening sound.
