Takeru Yamato was once summoned to another world to serve as its savior, but his overwhelming strength ultimately led to his execution. Instead of fading into oblivion, he awakens back in Japan, the very same reality he left behind before his summoning. Hoping to leave his traumatic past and extraordinary abilities behind him, Takeru resolves to live a quiet, unassuming life by keeping his true power hidden from everyone around him. However, the world he has returned to is no longer the peaceful home he remembers. Mysterious portals known as "gates" have begun opening across the city, unleashing hordes of rampaging demons upon the unsuspecting populace. To combat this sudden supernatural threat, specialized fighters called hunters now wield magic to protect humanity from the monstrous incursions. Thrust back into a reality teetering on the edge of chaos, the former hero finds himself caught between his desire for an ordinary existence and the violent dangers unfolding in the streets. As demons continue to pour through the gates and overwhelm the city's defenses, Takeru must navigate a world where his concealed strength may soon become impossible to suppress.
