Hana to Hoho

Hohoko is a book-loving high school student living with her father, a musician in the band Hana to Hoho. At school, she volunteers in the library alongside Yahiro, a devoted music fanatic who eventually discovers her father's true identity. Because talking is strictly forbidden in the library, the two begin exchanging written notes instead. Through these quiet messages, they slowly grow closer over the course of a single summer. However, Hohoko finds herself developing genuine feelings for Yahiro, only to realize his interest stems entirely from his admiration for her father’s music. The knowledge that their connection exists solely because of him weighs heavily on her heart. As their bond deepens, hidden truths begin to surface: a long-kept secret regarding Hohoko’s mother, which her father has deliberately concealed, and Yahiro’s complicated views on romance shaped by past trauma. Their unexpected encounter unfolds into a poignant story of one transformative summer, told with a gentle and tranquil touch.
