Koibumi Toiro

Koibumi Toiro is a manga anthology comprising nine interconnected and standalone stories that explore the unpredictable nature of romance. In the opening tale, a young boy visits a local bookstore two or three times a week after school to read about his hometown’s folklore and myths. However, his true motivation lies in stealing glances at a mysterious figure he encounters there, leaving readers to wonder about his hidden intentions. Following these events, Asahina trails Sano home to secretly observe him at work, quickly discovering that Sano remains entirely oblivious to just how innocent Asahina can be. Elsewhere, Souichirou meets an enigmatic stranger at his favorite bar who bluntly tells him he looks like he is about to die. Though Souichirou initially brushes off the unsettling remark, a sudden brush with danger causes his life to spiral rapidly out of control. The collection also delves into the mundane frustrations of everyday life turned upside down by unexpected connections. Isa has grown utterly exhausted from constantly confronting his tenant, Hasegawa, a disorganized author who refuses to clean up after himself or pay rent on time. With his second-to-last tenant moving out, Isa faces a difficult dilemma over whether to continue renting the property or sell it entirely. A chance visit to a local bookstore ultimately shifts his perspective, injecting newfound excitement into his otherwise monotonous routine. The remaining chapters weave together further narratives, rounding out a diverse tapestry of love letters, quiet whispers, and fleeting encounters.
