Egoism

Among his colleagues, Dr. Takashima is widely admired as a composed and strikingly handsome professional. To the rest of the staff, he embodies effortless charm, earning the quiet respect and affection of everyone in the workplace. Yet, this unanimous adoration is broken by one glaring exception: Dr. Miyano. Rather than sharing the warm regard of their peers, Miyano watches Takashima with an unmistakably cold and distant gaze, standing apart from the admiration that surrounds him. Beneath this frosty professional dynamic lies a deeply personal history that neither man openly acknowledges. Takashima and Miyano were once childhood friends who shared a close bond, but something fractured that connection long ago. Burdened by a past he would much rather leave forgotten, Takashima is forced to navigate the daily tension of working alongside someone who now treats him as a stranger. As old wounds remain unhealed, the story explores the painful mystery of what could have driven these two former companions so far apart, leaving only silence and resentment in place of their once-unbreakable friendship.
