The world is quietly unraveling, though the vast majority of humanity remains blissfully unaware. Hidden across the globe are enigmatic phenomena known as "Ends"—bizarre entities steadily pushing civilization toward its final days. From a mysterious mechanical apparatus submerged in the depths of Shinobazu Pond in Ueno to a colossal snail scaling the Eiffel Tower, and even a demon lord taking the form of a beautiful girl, these cryptic threats defy all logic. In response, a clandestine group of young people has chosen to reject their impending doom by secretly taking up arms. They do not fight to halt the apocalypse or destroy the Ends, knowing full well that such efforts would be futile. Instead, their sole mission is to delay the inevitable, buying humanity whatever fleeting time remains. Why would anyone willingly shoulder such a hopeless burden? For these youths, the answer is simple: to wring every last drop of meaning from their adolescence in a doomed world. Among them is the narrator, a young man whose past is anything but ordinary. Once an ESPer forced into servitude by a cartel, he has endured a truly miserable existence. Now, having joined this desperate cause, he holds onto a single, modest hope—that in this forsaken world, he might finally experience the fulfilling school life he was always denied.
