I Can't Get Through the Night Alone

Set in Japan during 1950, the story follows Seishiro, a man deeply scarred by the lingering trauma of war. His psychological wounds manifest as severe insomnia, leaving him unable to sleep through the night. Everything changes when he crosses paths with Jim, a warm and amiable American soldier stationed in the country. Recognizing an unexpected chance to alter his agonizing daily existence, Seishiro boldly proposes that the two of them become a couple. Jim is immediately captivated by Seishiro, appearing entirely unaware of the calculated motives behind the sudden proposition. For Seishiro, the arrangement begins strictly as a practical solution—a means to finally find rest. However, as the nights pass and he repeatedly drifts off within the safety of Jim’s gentle embrace, the dynamic between them quietly transforms. What started as a transactional relationship gradually becomes something far more profound, allowing the heart Seishiro believed was permanently shattered on the battlefield to slowly begin its healing process.
