Associate Professor Akira Takatsuki's Conjecture

University student Naoya Fukamachi possesses a remarkable and burdensome gift: the flawless ability to detect when someone is lying. While such a talent might seem advantageous, it has instead condemned him to a life of profound isolation. Unable to navigate the everyday deceptions that sustain normal social interactions, Naoya finds himself entirely cut off from his peers, living without friends or meaningful connections. His solitary existence takes an unexpected turn when a research paper he writes captures the attention of Akira Takatsuki, his folklore studies professor. Akira is as strikingly handsome as he is deeply eccentric, and he quickly pulls Naoya into the fascinating world of his academic pursuits. Recognizing the young man's unique perceptiveness, the professor recruits him to assist in investigating matters far beyond conventional scholarship. Thrust into the role of assistant, Naoya becomes the essential anchor of common sense for his brilliant but unorthodox mentor. Together, they are tasked with examining and interpreting a series of truly inexplicable phenomena. As Naoya applies his infallible intuition to these mysterious occurrences, he must navigate both the bizarre cases they encounter and the unpredictable nature of the captivating professor who leads them.
