In a world threatened by invaders from another dimension, elite warriors known as Bastioners stand as humanity's last line of defense. These fighters harness a mysterious energy called Aegis, which can bestow extraordinary strength upon both people and objects. However, this power comes with a strict limitation: no one can channel Aegis into themselves. To survive on the battlefield, Bastioners must always fight in pairs, constantly exchanging this vital energy to empower one another. Yorino Aratsugu and Yoko Kaminoi are two young trainees striving to become full-fledged Bastioners. During their childhood, Yorino was the fierce protector who shielded the timid Yoko from bullies. As they have grown, however, the dynamic between them has shifted dramatically. Yoko has blossomed into a prodigy, surpassing Yorino in nearly every discipline except raw combat ability. Now standing on the threshold of becoming official Bastioners, Yorino faces a profound internal struggle. She fights desperately to avoid being completely overshadowed by her partner’s rapidly expanding talents. Complicating this rivalry is a deeper emotional turmoil, as Yorino grapples with increasingly complex feelings for the childhood friend she once swore to protect.
