Team Phoenix

Spanish artist Kenny Ruiz, known for his works Telémaco and Dos Espadas, is set to launch a new manga in collaboration with Tezuka Productions. Announced in the May issue of Akita Shoten's Bessatsu Shounen Champion magazine, this project reimagines various characters from Osamu Tezuka’s extensive catalog within a fresh narrative framework. The series represents a unique cross-cultural creative partnership that brings together European artistic sensibilities with classic Japanese character archetypes under the official supervision of Tezuka’s studio. The story unfolds in a vast universe where an alliance of robots has established dominion over ninety percent of all known space. Amidst this mechanical hegemony, the knight Sapphire finds herself deeply troubled by the suffering endured by non-robotic beings under the current regime. Her growing empathy for the oppressed organic population creates an internal conflict that challenges the very foundations of the robotic order. Driven by compassion rather than programming, Sapphire ultimately makes a pivotal decision to forge a new future, setting in motion events that could reshape the balance of power across the cosmos.
