Reibaishi Izuna: Ascension

Seventeen-year-old Izuna Hazuki leads a double life as an ordinary high school student and a practicing Itako, a spiritual medium deeply attuned to the supernatural. Operating within the modern cityscape, she works as a Reibaishi, dedicating herself to protecting humanity from malevolent entities that thrive in the shadows of everyday life. These evil spirits are drawn to human vulnerability, feeding on emotional distress, deep-seated insecurities, and personal weakness. Once they take hold of a host, they amplify negative energy until the possessed individual becomes a danger to themselves and everyone around them. The consequences of these possessions are often devastating. Some spirits manipulate young women desperate for attention, twisting their ambitions until they commit acts of arson, while others exploit men's darkest desires, transforming them into monstrous predators. To combat this hidden threat, Izuna relies on her specialized abilities and her Kuda, a fox-like spirit companion capable of detecting and destroying these malicious forces. Together, they navigate the perilous boundary between fantasy and reality, working tirelessly to exorcise the darkness preying upon unsuspecting humans and bringing light back to a world plagued by unseen terrors.
