Zoufu no Hanataba

When middle school student Ryuunosuke travels to his grandmother’s remote island home for a visit, he expects nothing more than an ordinary stay. However, the atmosphere shifts dramatically when he passes by the staircase leading to the second floor. From the shadows above, a bizarre, plant-like appendage suddenly extends downward, dangling into his line of sight. Deeply unsettled yet captivated by the strange occurrence, Ryuunosuke attempts to ascend the stairs to investigate further. Before he can take more than a few steps, his uncle abruptly intervenes. Wearing an unusually grim and serious expression entirely out of character for him, the older man sharply demands to know what the boy is doing and strictly warns him never to go upstairs. Despite his uncle's stern prohibition, the unsettling encounter leaves Ryuunosuke unable to shake his fascination with whatever lurks on the upper floor. The warning only deepens the mystery surrounding the house and its hidden secrets. As night falls over the quiet island, curiosity ultimately overpowers his fear and obedience. Unable to resist the pull of the unknown any longer, Ryuunosuke makes the fateful decision to creep upstairs in the darkness, setting into motion a sequence of events that will forever alter his understanding of his family's isolated home.
