The Manga Guide to Databases

With the king and queen away, Princess Ruruna finds herself overwhelmed by the monumental task of managing the Kingdom of Kod’s vast fruit-selling empire. Juggling overseas departments, massive inventories, conflicting prices, and countless customers quickly turns into a chaotic nightmare. Fortunately, a mysterious book and a helpful fairy named Tico arrive to rescue her from this administrative crisis, introducing the practical magic of databases as the ultimate solution to her organizational struggles. Guided by Tico, the princess learns to simplify her data management through the engaging fusion of Japanese-style comics and rigorous educational content. Together, they design a relational database, explore the entity-relationship model, and master fundamental operations before advancing to more complex topics. As Ruruna becomes proficient in transactions and basic SQL statements, she gains the ability to maintain accurate, up-to-date information across the entire kingdom. Tico further instructs her on optimizing efficiency, enhancing security, and implementing methods for concurrency and replication. To reinforce these lessons, the book provides practical examples and exercises complete with answer keys, alongside an appendix of frequently used SQL statements for building and maintaining comprehensive databases. Beneath the technical instruction lies a touch of royal intrigue, leaving readers to discover whether an arrogant prince or a humble servant ultimately wins the princess's heart.
