Blackguard

The world has been irrevocably transformed. Savage, ape-like creatures now roam the earth, hunting and feeding on human beings. Their bites spread a mysterious virus, turning victims into infected carriers of the same relentless threat. To survive this apocalyptic reality, humanity has retreated to the skies, constructing aerial cities far above the danger. From these elevated sanctuaries, specialized combat units known as Guards are deployed to fight back against the monstrous hordes threatening their existence. Among these defenders is a young man named Minami, recognized by his hollow, vacant stare. He throws himself into battle with absolute disregard for his own survival, fighting as though his life holds no value. The desperate populace has elevated him to the status of a messiah, viewing him as their ultimate savior. Yet, the grim irony of their hope lies in Minami’s profound death wish. He does not defend humanity out of noble conviction or heroic duty. Instead, he continues to slaughter the beasts day after day simply because he is still breathing, trapped in an endless cycle of violence while longing for an end that refuses to come.
