Akagi: Zawa... Zawa... Anthology

Akagi: Zawa... Zawa... Anthology is a collection of short comedic parodies based on the acclaimed gambling manga Akagi, featuring contributions from a variety of artists. The anthology reimagines the intense world of high-stakes mahjong through a humorous lens, offering fans a lighthearted departure from the original series' suspenseful tone. A standout inclusion in this compilation is Washizu-sama to Yukai na Nakama-tachi, a special one-shot crafted by the renowned all-female artist collective CLAMP. This particular story centers on Iwao Washizu, one of the most formidable and iconic figures from the Akagi universe. Rather than exploring his ruthless gambling prowess, the piece presents him in a playful, comedic light that contrasts sharply with his usual menacing presence. The CLAMP one-shot was originally produced as part of a promotional campaign to celebrate and advertise the release of Washizu -Enma no Touhai-, a new manga focusing on the legendary antagonist. By bringing together diverse artistic talents and unique comedic interpretations, the anthology serves as both an entertaining tribute to the franchise and a creative showcase of how different creators approach its unforgettable characters.
