High school student Shiina Shinya harbors a cynical view of girls, dismissing them as entirely useless simply because he cannot comprehend them. Yet, his dismissive attitude does little to shield him from an eccentric cast of young women who constantly complicate his daily life. The popular and charming Tsubasa Tooka relentlessly stalks him, while the masochistic Shikimura Masami has forcefully recruited him into her bizarre role-playing sessions. Meanwhile, Ikari Satsuki displays a deeply unsettling fascination with a recent string of local stabbings and seems determined to pull Shinya into the mystery. The peculiarities do not end there. Banjou Yoruko, typically a quiet and studious girl, has convinced herself that she and Shinya are entangled in some elaborate fantasy narrative. Uchida Yumeji, known around campus as the sleeping beauty, spends nearly all her time resting in the infirmary; Shinya dutifully brings her newspapers so she can catch up on world events during her brief moments of consciousness. Finally, Okui Akane is absolutely certain she is a vampire, a delusion that practically forces Shinya to offer her his blood. Surrounded by this relentless parade of abnormal girls, Shinya must somehow navigate a high school existence that grows stranger by the day.
