Yondome no Otto

Fujibayashi Misao, the noble daughter of a count, has endured a tragic and relentless series of misfortunes. Having already outlived two previous spouses, she finds herself widowed for a third time under deeply sorrowful circumstances. Her grief is compounded on the very day of her latest husband’s funeral when her mother-in-law publicly turns against her, bitterly accusing Misao of carrying a curse that doomed him to an early death. Amidst this humiliation and despair, an unexpected figure steps forward to intervene. Tomishima Hajime, a prosperous merchant and prominent landowner in the region, offers Misao a startling proposition. He declares his intention to take her as his wife, presenting the arrangement not merely as a romantic pursuit but as a calculated exchange. In return for her hand in marriage, he promises to entirely erase the crushing debts left behind by her deceased husband. Faced with social ruin and financial devastation, Misao must now consider binding her fate to a fourth man, stepping into a new chapter defined by obligation, wealth, and uncertain intentions.
