Kirisame ga Furu Mori

Following the sudden death of her parents, a young woman named Shiori Kanzaki discovers a photograph of a man she believes to be her grandfather. Hoping to find him, she travels to Azakawa Village, his apparent hometown. Instead of the reunion she anticipated, Shiori uncovers a small local museum and realizes with a shock that she once lived there as a child. During her stay, she encounters Sakuma, a trouble-prone middle school girl, and Suga, the museum’s enigmatic manager who communicates exclusively through written notes. Though reluctant, Suga permits Shiori to remain at the museum temporarily so she can investigate her family history. However, Azakawa Village harbors a dark local legend about the Kotori Obake, a demonic woman said to abduct children who wander into the surrounding forest. As Shiori delves deeper into her forgotten past, she begins hearing disembodied voices urging her to "come fulfill the promise." The unsettling connection between this ancient folklore, her childhood in the village, and the mysterious commands echoing in her mind soon draws her into a chilling mystery she must unravel.
