Oedo-chan of Moguraya

Set against the atmospheric backdrop of a fable-like old Edo, this heartwarming manga follows the daily life of Oedo-chan, a resilient stray cat who works alongside her companion, Captain. Together, they run Moguraya, with Captain—a literal mole—serving as the establishment's steadfast leader. The world they navigate is vast, often cruel, and shrouded in mystery, yet Oedo-chan approaches every challenge with unwavering determination. As a remarkably hard worker who refuses to be intimidated by anything, she serves as an inspiring reminder that readers need not let fear hold them back either. Beyond its charming premise, the story weaves together the varied lives of those inhabiting this mythic version of Edo, offering a deeply sweet narrative filled with gentle encounters and quiet perseverance. Yet beneath the endearing day-to-day operations of Moguraya lies a more poignant layer to the tale. As the narrative unfolds, it gradually reveals the tragic backstory that shaped the fearless Oedo-chan into the diligent soul she is today. By blending lighthearted warmth with moments of genuine emotional depth, the series crafts a beautifully unique portrait of resilience, companionship, and the courage required to thrive in an unpredictable world.
