Kakegurui Midari

A compelling spin-off of the acclaimed Kakegurui series, this manga shifts its focus to the enigmatic Midari Ikishima, exploring a shadowy and formative chapter of her history. Set against the high-stakes backdrop of Hyakkaou Private Academy, the narrative delves into the turbulent period when Midari first assumed her position within the ruthless Student Council. Rather than simply portraying her established persona, the story illuminates the morally ambiguous circumstances surrounding her rise to power, revealing the hidden motivations that shaped her into one of the academy's most unpredictable figures. During her early days navigating the treacherous political landscape of the Student Council, Midari crosses paths with Nana Ootori, a remarkably unlucky girl whose misfortunes stand in stark contrast to the calculated gambles of the elite student body. Despite their vastly different dispositions, the two forge an unlikely alliance, bound together by shared struggles within the academy's unforgiving hierarchy. As they navigate the cutthroat environment side by side, their unexpected partnership becomes a defining element of Midari's past. This unique dynamic not only deepens the lore of the Kakegurui universe but also offers a fresh perspective on how alliances are forged—and tested—when luck is never guaranteed.
