Kaiki Kanzume

Kaiki Kanzume is a curated anthology of horror manga drawn from the Junji Ito Terror Manga Collection. This volume gathers eight chilling standalone tales, each exploring distinct facets of psychological dread and supernatural terror through the creator's signature unsettling artistry. The compilation features a diverse array of macabre narratives. "Nakama no Ie" (Friend's House) and "Tonari no Mado" (The Window Next Door) examine the creeping unease found within ordinary domestic spaces and familiar relationships. "Namekuji Shoujo" (Slug Girl) introduces a grotesque physical transformation that blurs the line between human and invertebrate, while "Hyouchakumono" (Wash Ashore) draws upon the eerie mysteries delivered by the ocean's tides. "Gosenzo-sama" (Ancestors) delves into the terrifying weight of familial lineage and ancestral curses. The collection also includes "Ijou Sekkin: Near-Miss," a story built around the agonizing tension of an inexplicable close encounter. Rounding out the anthology are two interconnected chapters centered on the bizarre Hikizuri family. "Jijo no Koibito" (The Eldest Daughter's Lover) follows an outsider who becomes entangled with the deeply unnatural siblings, while "Koureikai" (Seance) chronicles their attempt to commune with the dead, resulting in predictably horrifying consequences. Together, these stories form a comprehensive showcase of surreal nightmares and inescapable doom.
