Gojikanme no Sensou

For five grueling years, a desperate war has raged against an unidentified enemy. The residents of the remote island of Aoshima have remained largely insulated from the horrors unfolding on the mainland, shielded by distance and isolation from the devastating realities of the conflict. However, their fragile peace is abruptly shattered when a chilling new mandate takes effect: every Friday, precisely at the fifth hour, scholars are selected to be deployed directly to the front lines. Among those evaluated for conscription are Saku and Miyako, both of whom are officially declared unfit for military service due to undisclosed reasons. Their exemption stands in stark contrast to the fate awaiting others in their community. Young Reina, who only recently fled the chaos of Tokyo seeking refuge on the island, finds no sanctuary in her escape. Instead, she becomes the very first among them to be sent into the brutal war zone, thrusting the isolated islanders into a terrifying reality they can no longer ignore.
