Sono Hada no Atsusa wo Oboeteru

Gen, a young and handsome hairdresser burdened by his own personal struggles, has long harbored deep feelings for Kotaro, his older childhood friend. Complicating matters is the fact that Kotaro’s affections are directed entirely toward Gen’s older brother, Kanade. When Gen learns that Kanade’s marriage may be on the verge of collapse, he seizes the opportunity to comfort an excessively intoxicated Kotaro, leading them to spend the night together in a hotel. For Gen, this intimate encounter sparks a desperate hope that Kotaro might finally see him as more than just a younger companion. However, the morning after brings a crushing revelation. Kotaro awakens under the mistaken belief that he spent the night with Kanade rather than Gen. While Gen is accustomed to being confused with his older brother due to their resemblance, realizing that Kotaro failed to recognize him even during their most vulnerable moment fills him with profound resentment and heartache. This bitter tale of unrequited love explores the painful dynamic between a troubled young stylist and an older, naturally charming yet plain-looking man, bound by history but divided by a devastating case of mistaken identity.
