Shinomiya Rui is a newly appointed high school teacher who takes great pride in building meaningful connections with her students. She believes that understanding the young people in her classroom is the foundation of good education, and she dedicates herself to earning their trust. However, one particular student proves far more difficult to reach than the rest. Bearing the exact same name as his teacher, a boy named Rui Hayase remains guarded and refuses to open up to her, keeping his thoughts and emotions firmly locked away despite her persistent efforts. The fragile dynamic between them shatters when the younger Rui is caught shoplifting. Rather than acting out of personal greed or teenage rebellion, he reveals that he was explicitly instructed to commit the theft by his own father. This shocking discovery forces the teacher to confront a deeply troubling reality about her student's home life. As Shinomiya Rui begins to unravel the disturbing circumstances driving the boy's actions, she is left grappling with a desperate question: what dark motivation could compel a father to push his child toward crime?
