Season

On a bitter winter day, Inose Azuma’s quiet life caring for his ailing mother is interrupted by an unexpected visitor. Matsuoka Sueji, a man who once served the Inose household and now makes his living as a moneylender, arrives offering desperately needed financial assistance. Initially wary of Matsuoka’s intentions, Azuma struggles to understand why a former servant turned lender would extend such generosity. However, his suspicion begins to fade when Matsuoka honestly confesses that his visit is motivated by a desire to repay an old debt of gratitude. Moved by this sincere gesture, Azuma gradually finds himself drawn to the enigmatic moneylender. Yet, as their bond deepens, a lingering uncertainty remains: how far is Matsuoka truly willing to go in returning this favor? Born and raised under vastly different circumstances, the two men must navigate the complexities of their contrasting backgrounds. As winter thaws into spring and gives way to summer and autumn, the changing seasons mirror the evolving relationship between them, marking the passage of time for two individuals learning to bridge the divide between their worlds.
