Set during Japan’s Taisho era, Kazunari Kyogoku possesses the extraordinary ability to hear the unspoken thoughts of those around him. He has leveraged this gift to build a highly successful trading company, yet the constant exposure to humanity’s hidden motives has left him deeply cynical and incapable of trusting anyone. Seeking to expand his influence through strategic alliances, he arranges a marriage proposal with the daughter of the prestigious Suwabe noble family. However, his bride-to-be, Nana Suwabe, defies everything he understands about his power. Not only is she entirely mute, but for the first time in his life, Kazunari hears absolute silence when he tries to listen to her inner voice. Unable to read her intentions or hear her speak, he finds himself completely disarmed. Despite his bewilderment, circumstances push the two into a sudden marriage before he can fully process the anomaly. Stripped of his usual advantage, Kazunari must navigate an unfamiliar relationship built on something other than secrets. What follows is an awkward yet heartwarming journey as the couple slowly discovers genuine happiness together, forging a clumsy but beautiful married life where trust is finally learned rather than heard.
