Trude Oba-san: Grimm no Youna Monogatari

Trude Oba-san: Grimm no Youna Monogatari is an anthology of dark, reimagined narratives inspired by the classic tales of the Brothers Grimm. The collection opens with "G’s Dairy," following a young woman who wakes with no recollection of her identity or how she arrived at the house where she now spends her days working in silence. In "Frau Trude," a headstrong girl defies all warnings to seek out the infamous witch whose name strikes fear into others. Another tale, "The Summer and Winter Garden," weaves a story of a beautiful woman bound to live alongside a beast within the walls of a cursed mansion, while "Little Red Riding Hood" follows a lone girl navigating the perilous woods on her journey to her grandmother’s home. The remaining chapters continue this atmospheric exploration of familiar folklore. "The Frog King or Iron Heinrich" centers on a determined princess who discovers exactly what she desires and sets out to claim it by any means necessary. Rounding out the collection are haunting adaptations of "Little Brier-Rose," "The Bremen Town Musicians," and "Rapunzel." Together, these eight interconnected stories offer a fresh, compelling perspective on timeless fairy tales, blending mystery, ambition, and enchantment into a single captivating volume.
