Tenshi no Ashiato

"If only I could see them one more time." This quiet longing defines the existence of Chiharu, a former cat who now resides in a serene transitional realm. It is a place where animals arrive after their earthly lives have ended, resting briefly before they are reborn into new ones. While others move forward, Chiharu remains entirely alone, waiting patiently for something undefined yet deeply felt. In this heavenly sanctuary, every arriving animal is granted a single, extraordinary gift: the chance to return to the living world for exactly one day. As these souls prepare for their temporary journey back, Chiharu walks alongside them, guiding them toward a mysterious expanse of water that serves as the threshold between realms. It is through this shimmering boundary that the departed can briefly reunite with the humans and companions they cherished most. Tenshi no Ashiato weaves a tender narrative about the enduring bonds between animals and the people they loved. It follows the bittersweet pilgrimages of these gentle souls as they seize their final opportunity to visit the living world, finding comfort and closure before stepping into the cycle of rebirth once again.
