New National Kid

New National Kid is a thought-provoking collection of war-themed short stories that weave together elements of horror, eroticism, and the grotesque. Through a diverse array of narratives, the anthology explores haunting historical shadows and psychological depths. The collection features a wide-ranging episodic structure, including stories such as Farewell Showa, Electric Ant, Hail Death!, Farmer No.1, and Snake Boy, alongside unique vignettes like Poison Strawberry, 3rd Year High School Student, Children's Art Broadcast, and a specific geographical entry detailing Nagasaki Prefecture Minamitakaki. The anthology continues its eclectic journey through dark and surreal themes with entries inspired by pop culture and deeply personal or grotesque imagery, including Michael Jackson's BAD, Totally Scary, Sleeping Man, SOJIN, The Gold Notebook, and Joy Division. Rounding out the collection are the meta-narrative Fake Electric Ant and the provocative Planet Of The Jap. Together, these stories offer a striking, unsettling look into the intersections of conflict, human desire, and societal trauma.
