In the thirty-third year of the Kangxi Emperor's reign, a sweeping imperial decree known as the "Edict on Recruiting Settlers to Populate Sichuan" was issued. This mandate triggered a massive migration, compelling countless people from provinces such as Hunan, Hubei, and Guangdong to journey westward and resettle in the vast territories of Sichuan. This historic upheaval would forever be remembered as the great Huguang Settlement of Sichuan, a monumental effort ordered by the throne to repopulate a region that had seemingly been emptied of its people. Yet, beneath the official records of this mass relocation lies a lingering mystery that challenges the accepted history. Sichuan had long been celebrated as the Land of Abundance, a place of legendary prosperity and wealth. Was it truly reduced to a desolate wasteland solely by the ravages of war, or were there darker, hidden reasons behind the desperate need for new settlers? Whispers persist of an alternative explanation, suggesting that a mysterious object once materialized within the borders of Sichuan—an enigmatic discovery that may have altered the fate of the region far more profoundly than any battlefield ever could.
