Shisha no Teikoku

Set against the atmospheric backdrop of nineteenth-century Europe, The Empire of Corpses follows John Watson, a man whose exceptional talents draw the attention of the government. Recruited to serve as a covert operative, Watson is thrust into a clandestine world of espionage and hidden agendas. His new role demands that he navigate treacherous political landscapes while carrying out secretive missions on behalf of his country. However, Watson operates within a society fundamentally transformed by macabre scientific advancements. In this alternate era of rapid industrialization, human corpses are routinely reanimated and fitted with artificial souls. These re-purposed bodies, widely known as "Frankensteins," function as tireless laborers designed to accelerate economic and technological progress. Their widespread integration into the workforce has reshaped civilization, blurring the boundaries between life and death in the pursuit of modernization. As Watson undertakes his duties as a secret agent, he must contend with the profound moral implications of a world built upon the backs of the dead. Balancing his loyalty to the government with the unsettling realities of his surroundings, he finds himself at the center of a society where human remains are merely another resource for industry.
