Bakegitsune no Chuushin

Tamamo is a fearsome youkai who harbors a deep-seated grudge against humanity. Despite her vicious nature and long-standing resentment, her world shifts when she crosses paths with Naozumi, a young and remarkably naive samurai warrior. Captivated by his innocence, the fox spirit makes an unexpected choice: rather than acting on her hatred, she resolves to stay by his side and watch over him, dedicating herself to protecting the young fighter she has grown so fond of. However, safeguarding a human proves far more complicated than Tamamo anticipated. Unaware of the true supernatural nature of his companion, Naozumi begins to worry about Tamamo’s health and well-being. Driven by genuine concern for her frailty, the earnest warrior attempts to gently push her away, keeping her at a distance to spare her from the dangers of his path. This creates a painful dilemma for the devoted youkai. The very person she swore to protect is now actively trying to leave her behind out of misplaced worry. As Tamamo struggles to remain close enough to shield him without revealing her dangerous identity, she must navigate the heartbreaking irony of a bond threatened not by malice, but by kindness.
