Haruko Nanase was never considered a naturally gifted student, but her relentless dedication and hard work ultimately paid off. Through sheer determination, she earned admission to a prestigious high school and has since risen to the very top of her class. Her carefully structured academic life, however, faces an unexpected disruption during a routine train ride. While commuting one day, Haruko witnesses a violent altercation involving a young man wearing the exact same school uniform as hers. Once the brawl concludes, the stranger brazenly approaches her and demands payment for having watched the spectacle. Panicked, she manages to slip away from him before the situation escalates further, believing the bizarre encounter is finally behind her. Unfortunately, Haruko’s relief proves to be short-lived. When she arrives at school the following morning, she discovers that the aggressive young man from the train is not only enrolled at her academy but is also a student in her specific class. To make matters worse, his assigned seat happens to be directly next to hers. Now forced into constant proximity with someone who views her as owing him a debt, Haruko must navigate the uneasy tension between maintaining her hard-earned academic standing and dealing with an unpredictable new neighbor.
