Gensou Suikoden

Riou and his closest companion, Jowy, are two young soldiers serving in the youth brigade of the Highland Kingdom, a formidable military power situated in the northeastern reaches of the Dunan region. Bound by shared ideals, the boys gaze upon the same starlit skies, rest in the same tents, and place their faith in a common future. They hold onto the comforting belief that once the battles cease and the long nights pass, their peaceful daily lives will inevitably be restored to them. However, destiny has other plans. Instead of returning to normalcy, the two friends are pulled into an inescapable vortex of conflict, driven forward by the spreading flames of war. Though initially powerless, they ultimately reach out and seize extraordinary strength to survive the chaos surrounding them. As the light of one hundred and eight stars illuminates the darkened horizon, Riou and Jowy step forward on diverging paths. Each is guided by his own deeply held convictions, striving to find meaning in a world where no clear answers exist.
