Kimi no Tonari de Yurarete

Whispers of a scandal involving a man from the head office force Shiina into an unexpected transfer to the General Affairs Department of a local branch. Burdened by past trauma that makes crowded spaces unbearable, he adapts his daily routine by commuting on an early morning bus to avoid other passengers. His fragile sense of security is tested one rainy evening when he accepts a car ride home with Niwa, a colleague from the Development Department. The confined space proves too much for Shiina, triggering a severe panic attack. Yet instead of pulling away, Niwa reaches out without hesitation, offering a quiet promise: whenever anxiety takes hold, he will be right there beside him to help. True to his word, Niwa begins riding the same early morning bus as Shiina starting the very next day. This simple, consistent act of companionship marks the beginning of a gentle shift in Shiina’s world, as someone steadfast slowly steps into the space beside him, easing the weight of his fears through unwavering presence.
