Yoshio's Youth

Yoshio Tsube is a young manga artist struggling to support his large family of seven by drawing rental manga. His daily routine shifts when he delivers a new manuscript to his publisher and crosses paths with his senior colleague, Mr. Tayama. This encounter opens the door to an unexpected journey, as Yoshio soon travels to the tranquil hot springs town of Yugawara Onsen to work as Mr. Tayama’s assistant. During his stay at the local inn, he finds himself captivated by one of the maids, a young woman named Yoneko, sparking a brief but memorable connection before he must return to the demands of city life. Back in Tokyo, the distance between them does not last long. Yoneko makes her way to the capital to visit him, and the two quickly develop a close friendship. However, the warmth of their reunion proves short-lived. When Yoneko asks Yoshio for money, the fragile bond they have built shatters under the weight of his financial burdens. Faced with the harsh realities of his responsibilities, Yoshio rejects her, bringing their relationship to an abrupt end within just two months of her arrival.
