Lady Suiren reigns as both a revered snake deity and the sovereign of her domain. As is customary, the local people present her with a human offering—a young woman named Suzu—intended to serve as the divine serpent’s next meal. However, Lady Suiren holds herself to exacting standards, firmly believing that any sacrifice consumed by a deity of her stature must be of absolutely impeccable quality before it can be deemed worthy. Rather than devouring the girl upon arrival, the serpentine mistress takes an unexpected approach to preparation. She begins showering Suzu with lavish comforts and endless delights, treating her supposed final meal with extraordinary care and indulgence. What was meant to be a grim fate quickly transforms into a life of pampered luxury under the watchful gaze of the land's slithering ruler. Although Suzu was officially delivered to the shrine as nothing more than sustenance, the unfolding dynamic between the two suggests a very different reality. Lady Suiren’s growing affection and tender fondness for the young woman hint that the snake deity’s true intentions have strayed far from her original appetite, leaving Suzu’s ultimate role in this divine household beautifully uncertain.
