Houkago no Honya-san

Tsubasa is a young elementary school student whose daily routine takes an unexpected turn once the final school bell rings. Rather than heading home to play like her peers, she makes her way to a local bookstore owned and operated by her grandfather. There, she steps into the role of a part-time shop assistant, spending her afternoons surrounded by towering shelves and countless stories. For a child her age, working in a family business might seem like a charming responsibility, but Tsubasa quickly discovers that her after-school job comes with its own unique set of complications. The core of Tsubasa’s dilemma lies within the store's diverse inventory. Alongside the standard selection of literature, her grandfather’s bookstore stocks a variety of titles featuring mildly suggestive and erotic content. Navigating these mature materials proves to be a constant source of embarrassment and difficulty for the young girl. As she attempts to organize shelves and assist customers, Tsubasa must carefully manage the awkward reality of handling books far beyond her years. This striking contrast between her youthful innocence and the adult nature of the merchandise creates a challenging, yet compelling, everyday struggle as she dutifully tries to fulfill her responsibilities at the family shop.
