To the Abandoned Sacred Beasts

During a prolonged and devastating civil war between the North and the South, the outnumbered Northern forces resorted to forbidden dark magic to turn the tide of battle. Through these grim rituals, they transformed their soldiers into monstrous super-weapons known as Incarnates. Though hailed as Sacred Beasts during the conflict, these living weapons now face an uncertain future in a world that no longer needs them. With peace finally restored, the former soldiers must find a way to integrate into civilian society, or risk being executed by a relentless Beast Hunter tasked with eliminating those who succumb to their monstrous instincts. Nancy Schaal Bancroft, the grieving daughter of one such Incarnate, refuses to accept this brutal fate. Driven by vengeance and sorrow, she sets out to hunt down the very man responsible for slaughtering her kind. However, when Nancy finally corners her quarry, the confrontation does not unfold as she imagined. Instead of finding a heartless killer, she is forced to confront painful realities about the deteriorating lives of the Sacred Beasts and the terrible burden carried by the one who puts them down.
