Sword of the Demon Hunter: Kijin Gentosho

Set during Japan’s Edo period, the story unfolds in the secluded mountain village of Kadono, where a shrine maiden known as Itsukihime resides. Though he is an outsider with no ties to the village, a young man named Jinta has taken it upon himself to serve as her devoted guardian. His protective role leads him into the surrounding forest to confront a dangerous threat, but the encounter takes an unexpected turn when he faces a mysterious demon. Rather than engaging in immediate combat, the creature speaks to Jinta of the distant future, setting into motion a journey that will defy the boundaries of time itself. Spanning centuries from the Edo period to the Heisei era, this sweeping Japanese fantasy epic follows Jinta as he transforms into a demon man traversing the ages. Across generations, he remains bound to his blade, wandering through shifting historical landscapes while continuously wrestling with a profound internal conflict. As the world evolves around him, he is forced to question the true meaning and purpose of wielding a sword, turning his timeless voyage into both a supernatural adventure and a deep philosophical exploration of duty, identity, and violence.
