Set in the eighth year of the Taisho era, 1919, a quiet rural village finds itself under the long-standing rule of the Kaguragi clan. Yuzuki, an ordinary village girl, is on the verge of marrying Yuichiro, the clan’s young heir. Their union promises a bright future, but a devastating epidemic suddenly sweeps through their home, threatening to destroy everything they hold dear. Desperate to survive the relentless plague, the couple turns to an extreme and dangerous solution: consuming a poisonous plant known as "tokohana," which legend claims possesses the power to halt time itself. Trusting in this ancient remedy, Yuzuki and Yuichiro willingly surrender to a deep hibernation, intending to sleep for exactly one year until the deadly sickness has run its course. They close their eyes together, believing they will awaken side by side in a healed world.
