SHIMONETA: A Boring World Where the Concept of Dirty Jokes Doesn’t Exist

Sixteen years have passed since the sweeping enactment of the "Law for Public Order and Morals in Healthy Child-Raising," a draconian mandate that completely eradicated coarse language and vulgar expression from the nation. In this heavily sanitized society, Tanukichi Okuma enrolls in the country’s most prestigious elite academy, an institution dedicated to upholding strict public morals. However, his pursuit of a respectable education is abruptly derailed when he crosses paths with Ayame Kajou, the enigmatic founder of a radical underground faction known as the Anti-Societal Organization, or SOX. Rather than simply attending classes, Tanukichi finds himself blackmailed by Ayame into joining her rebellious cause. Thrust into a world of ideological defiance, he is forced to participate in SOX’s outrageous campaign: a series of obscene acts of terrorism designed to shatter the nation's oppressive purity laws. His predicament grows infinitely more complicated when these subversive operations directly target Anna, the academy’s exceptionally talented student council president. Bound against his will to a life of scandalous rebellion, Tanukichi must navigate his coerced role as a provocateur while desperately concealing his secret romantic feelings for the very girl his organization has sworn to disrupt.
