The Strange Adventure of a Broke Mercenary

After a catastrophic battle annihilates his entire mercenary company, veteran swordsman Loren emerges as the sole survivor. Stripped of his comrades, his livelihood, and every meaningful connection he once held, he faces a bleak future in a world that rarely forgives the destitute. Without allies or reputation to rely on, the prospect of joining an adventuring party seems entirely out of reach, leaving the seasoned warrior adrift and desperate for a new path forward. Salvation arrives from an unexpected quarter when Lapis, an enigmatic priestess, approaches him with a surprising proposal: a formal partnership. For a man with nothing left to lose, her offer provides a vital lifeline into the adventuring profession. Yet Lapis is far from ordinary, and her true nature remains carefully veiled behind a serene exterior. As they embark together, Loren quickly realizes that this unlikely alliance will drag him into circumstances far more extraordinary than any battlefield he has ever known, binding him to a destiny stranger than anything he could have imagined.
