Mimi's Tales of Terror

University student Mimi and her boyfriend Naoto find themselves repeatedly drawn into a series of deeply unsettling mysteries. Their ordinary lives are disrupted by eerie encounters, beginning with a mysterious neighbor who dresses entirely in black from head to toe. Yet the true horror emerges when Mimi realizes this strange woman is not an isolated oddity—there seem to be many others just like her. The creeping dread only intensifies as unseen eyes track Mimi’s every movement from the adjacent cemetery, leaving her constantly watched and profoundly vulnerable. Adding to their mounting terror, a bizarre red circle appears on a basement wall, inexplicably changing its shape with each passing day. These nine chilling tales are presented as accounts of events that truly happened, adapted from the renowned Japanese urban legend collection Shin Mimibukuro. Brought to life through the masterful artwork of legendary horror creator Junji Ito, the stories weave together themes of paranoia, the supernatural, and the uncanny. From ominous figures looming on utility poles and strange rustling sounds hidden in the grass to disturbing signs appearing in open fields, each narrative plunges Mimi and Naoto deeper into an inescapable nightmare where everyday surroundings conceal unimaginable horrors.
