Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing Out

The eighth volume of the Seishun Buta Yarou series follows Sakuta Azusagawa as he navigates the final stretch of his second year of high school after an exhausting December. With his girlfriend Mai now a third-year student, the reality of her impending graduation looms large, leaving them with precious little time together before she moves on. Yet even as Sakuta grapples with the bittersweet countdown of their remaining days as schoolmates, another significant shift is unfolding much closer to home. His younger sister, Kaede, has been making remarkable progress, gradually building the courage to step outside and reclaim her place in the world. Just as she begins to find her footing, she reveals her most ambitious aspiration yet: she wants to enroll in Sakuta’s high school. Understanding better than anyone the immense emotional hurdles such a goal entails, Sakuta immediately resolves to support her through every challenge. However, beneath his unwavering dedication lies a quiet uncertainty. As he prepares to help Kaede chase this dream, he cannot shake the lingering doubt of whether attending his school is truly the right path for her recovery, or if it is simply what she believes she should want.
