Yusuraume is a charming doujinshi created by the author of Hidamari Sketch. The story follows two young, animal-eared characters as they embark on a gentle journey to visit a blossoming tree—specifically, a yusuraume, sometimes referred to as a mountain cherry. Their simple outing unfolds through beautifully illustrated panels that capture the quiet magic of their excursion and the natural beauty surrounding them. While the protagonists are young and their gender is left somewhat ambiguous, their presentation leans substantially toward the feminine. Given the creator Aoki’s broader body of work, it is reasonable to interpret both characters as girls. This impression is reinforced by the artwork itself, which frequently highlights delicate features such as distinctly girlish eyelashes and carefully drawn hips for both individuals. Beyond their visual design, the dynamic between the two companions invites comparison to familiar character archetypes found in Aoki’s other series.
