Hatafuri Mermaid

Ever since childhood, Yoshitoshi has harbored a deep dissatisfaction with the tragic conclusion of "The Little Mermaid." Determined to rewrite that sorrowful fate, he sets out to produce his own animated adaptation featuring a genuinely happy ending. His singular obsession drives him forward, yet he faces one insurmountable obstacle: finding the perfect voice actor to bring his vision of the mermaid to life. Without the right performance, his project stalls, leaving his dream suspended in uncertainty. Everything changes when he overhears an absolutely ideal voice. To his surprise, it belongs to Kohamo, a classmate who has just enrolled at the same high school. She possesses exactly the vocal quality he has been searching for, making her the undeniable choice for his lead role. However, casting her presents a unique and seemingly impossible challenge. Kohamo is a girl who never speaks aloud, relying entirely on hand signals to communicate with the world around her. Driven by unwavering resolve, Yoshitoshi vows to capture her voice for his animation, setting the stage for a heartfelt story about connection, expression, and the lengths one will go to create something beautiful.
