Summary

Official Details
Long ago, a set of twins was brought into the world during an era when multiple births were widely regarded as a terrible omen. Bound by this grim superstition, the villagers made a horrific choice. The female twin was crushed to death beneath a heavy millstone, and her broken body was buried in the quiet shade of a towering mulberry tree, hidden away from the living. Yet death did not grant the child peace. Because she perished before her spirit could fully mature, her soul found itself barred from the natural cycle of reincarnation. Instead of passing on, she was condemned to wander endlessly across the mortal realm as a restless phantom, trapped between the world of the living and whatever lay beyond. A singular path to salvation eventually revealed itself to the lost girl. In order to finally transcend her earthly purgatory and cross over into the next world, she must gather one hundred and eight distinct manifestations of human suffering and worldly desire. Driven by this agonizing requirement, the wandering spirit embarks on a dark and sorrowful journey, seeking out the deepest miseries of mankind to purchase her long-overdue release.
