Mourning and New Departure

Yukito has endured a lifetime of cruelty at the hands of the adults around him. Abandoned by his mother at a young age, he was left in the care of his stepfather, whose abuse escalated as Yukito grew older and began to resemble her. The mistreatment extends far beyond his home; he is repeatedly targeted by older men, including a colleague of his father who assaults him during a dinner Yukito attended in his father's place. Left half-conscious and barely able to walk after the harrowing evening, Yukito is found by Haruki Goto, a taxi driver who attempts to carry him to safety. Instead of accepting the help, a disoriented Yukito strikes Haruki in the face, leaving the driver stunned. As the aftermath of that violent night lingers, questions remain about whether Yukito will recall what truly happened. Their inevitable second encounter promises even greater tension, especially when they cross paths again with Yukito's father riding in the same car.
