Due to unforeseen family circumstances, a high school boy named Natsuno finds himself having to live under the same roof as a girl named Mashiro. As he settles into his new living situation while attending the school's art program, he stumbles upon one of her old sketchbooks from middle school. Rather than offering encouragement or praise for her past work, Natsuno reacts with startling coldness. He bluntly tells Mashiro that she should not speak to him unless the house is actively on fire or someone has died. Appalled by his sheer rudeness and dismissive attitude, Mashiro quickly decides that her unwanted housemate is nothing more than an insufferable annoyance. Determined to rid herself of his unpleasant presence, she immediately attempts to kick him out of the home.
